Recordings by Aerosmith, David Bowie and The Rolling Stones are among the 2018 additions to the Grammy Hall of Fame.
Several classic songs and albums have been chosen by America’s Recording Academy committee as part of a „commitment to preserving and celebrating timeless recordings“ the organisation’s president Neil Portnow noted.
Among the songs included are Dream On by Aerosmith, the Rolling Stones hit Paint it Black, Bowie’s classic Space Oddity, and Whitney Houston’s cover of Dolly Parton’s I Will Always Love You.Aerosmith wird in die Grammy Hall of Fame aufgenommen.
Dabei wird jedoch nicht die Band (‚Sweet Emotion‘) als solche aufgenommen, sondern nur der Song ‚Dream On‘. Die Grammy Hall of Fame ehrt die wichtigsten Musikstücke der Geschichte und nun ist Aerosmith ein Teil davon. Für die Rocker rund um Steven Tyler (69) ist die Aufnahme in die Hall of Fame mit ‚Dream On‘ die erste. Songs wie ‚I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing‘ oder ‚Crazy‘ wurde diese Ehre nicht zuteil.
Anders als es bei der Band der Fall ist, hat David Bowie (69, ‚Heroes‘) mit ‚The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars‘ schon ein Album und mit ‚Changes‘ schon zwei Plätze in der Hall of Fame. 2018 kommt nun mit ‚Space Oddity‘ ein dritter Platz hinzu.
Neben Aerosmith und Bowie werden unter anderem noch Dr. Dre mit seinem Album ‚The Chronic‘ und Jimi Hendrix mit ‚Band of Gypsys‘ in die Grammy Hall of Fame aufgenommen. Zu den Songs, die 2018 geehrt werden, gehören Whitney Houstons ‚I Will Always Love You‘ und ‚Paint it Black‘ von den Rolling Stones. Für die Stones ist es die sechste Platzierung in der Hall of Fame.
